RE: Arctic Cat turbo sno-pro

Bout $13,000 US. And I don't think they are coming off the list price much on either that or the Crossfire 800, 1000 R. Guess they think folks are willing to pay list for them. I may be interested next year, but not now. Changing hy-fax on da Hagwire and going another year with it. 3100 miles on em and still plenty of wear left, but since I have the skid out, may as well change em.
just started on my JagDaddy. Pulled the shocks for a re-charge. Everything seems good otherwise. Best Cat I ever owned. Gas and go.
Did they have rebuildables on the "07"?? I have a Ryde FX in the skid rear and a non- adjustable on the front. Gonna change all that before it goes back in. Don't wanna ruin the great ride, but I might have to put some stiffer rebuildables I have around here in it.
I switched out my rear shocks with Cat ACT shocks last winter. No difference in ride as compared to stock POS shocks that came with it. Now at least the front rear shock doesn't bottom out like the stock one did. Still a outstanding riding sled! What 150+ mile ride did I just do?

RE: Diesel Fuel 4.59 a gallon

It's NOT OPEC's fault for the high price of oil. News media tells only part of the story. Does anyone have money invested with Goldman-Saks???? Or know of a SPECULATOR on Wall-Street??? THEY are the ones bidding up the prices for they are making Money hand over fist by doing so at the expense of the U.S.'s economy. Did any one hear the opposite prediction by Leahman-Bros stating the oil would go down to 75-80 bucks a barrel in a year or 2??? Probly not, for all we heard via news outlets was GS's prediction of 150-200 and what happened??? OIL shot UP 2-3 bucks based on that. Why?? It's called a quick buck/get rich quick by SPECULATORS. SPECULATORS account for 1/3 the cost of oil/barrel. There is a surplus of oil on the market today, so how can they keep saying supply/demand. OPEC themselves are blaming SPECULATORS for the high price. Oh don't forget the refineries here in the U.S. operating at mid 80% capacity, thus contributing to a lower supply avail here in the U.S.
So point the fingers at big oil, SPECULATORS and the likes of Goldman-Saks.
BTW, gas running 3.80-3.99 and diesel 4.75-4.83 here in CNY.
ACZL
Sorry for my rant, but truckers have been dealing with 4+ dollar diesel for sometime w/o any much complaint by consumers. Now that THEY have to pay 4 dollar for gas, it's a different story!

RE: Bristol

Sorry we missed you SuZ (or perhaps we did meet if you had on a Cat jacket)? I know I said something to a spectator on way out and it was a female. I had on a Cat's Pride jacket. Zert is right about being up close. We walked on walkway on backstretch (during practice on Sat) and I swear the cars were no farther than 10' away going 80-90 mph and sticking your finger in left ear. WHAT A RUSH!. While we didn't meet any one driver in person, did see several walk in. Then after DW was presented his Mountain Dew car and then was being transported by golf cart up to the broadcast booth, he went right underneath us and we got him to look up, wave directly at us.
Never in my life have I seen so many people in one place and pretty much well behaved. Had a blast still. Like SuZ said, was cold, rainy, damp on both days, but still well worth it (had the A/C on going down for we ran into temps in the mid 70's). Yes it didn't provide the typical Bristol action we are accustomed to see/watch, it still had some good "take outs" if you will. Jeff Gordon's pit was directly across from us.
After the Busch race on Sat and walking back to the RV, there was a field that got soaked with rain and cars/trucks trying to get out of the mud. 3 vehicles were completely and I mean COMPLETELY covered in mud from others trying to get out. Quite a crowd gathered along the road to watch/cheer them on. Some that got out and went by, tranny's sure smelled HOT, HOT, HOT.

RE: Clutch Alignment Method

Popsickle,
You've been ranting on and on now for a couple weeks about your belt issue. Why don't you take it into your dealer OR a new one and get the problem fixed once and for all? :h
BTW, you'll need a clutch tool to make sure the clutches are aligned properly. Avail at your dealer.

Guy manhandles girl after a rollover

Not sure if this should be here or trash talkers, but here it goes.
Was up in Inlet, NY over this past w/e and about 1030-1045PM on Sat night on South Shore Road, hear all sorts of commotion right behind motel. Stepped outside to see what was up, and this is what I saw:
-2 people standing near 2 sleds. 1 running 1 not. Another sledder stops to see if all ok. Guy mentions sled rolled over and not sure if the sleds flooded or has spare plugs. Says too he's heading in direction of The Ole Barn. Rider takes off.
-Other rider (a lady), and guy start shouting with the guy cussing at the girl for wrecking his sled and that she wasn't thinking.
- She gets P/O'd with him, takes her helmet off and throws it on the ground and starts to walk way, back to pizza place at bottom of hill, while guy started to hook up tow rope.
-He runs down hill after her, all the while yelling at her. She's yelling at him telling him she hates him and that he's more concerned about his sled than her.
- They both come back up to sleds. Both still shouting. Mind you she NEVER swore, but he did. She repeated that she hates him.
-She starts back down hill and he runs and tackles her onto the snowbank and pins her down briefly. Back to the sleds they go.
- He still ranting about bent handlebars and all (looked like a REV). Tells her to sit down on his sled. Still spewing off about sled and helmet. Says too how she's preventing him from getting a house and other things. How? Says he's unstable. No kidding!
- Tries to take off with her behind him on his sled. She falls off (intentaily I feel).
- Again she repeats she hates him.
-He then gets off his sled after she fell off and physically picks her up and puts her on sled in front of him (like we would with little kids) and then heads down the trail.
Now you're asking yourselves why I didn't intervene? I'm only 5'7" and this guy stood probly over 6' and probly well lit to boot. Had he struck her, then I would not have hesitated to help her. My point is that I hope she dumps this guy and he had NO right treating her like that. 10 sheets to the wind or not. Accidents happen and that's what insurance is for. No one got hurt and sled could have been p/u with truck/trailer. This guy had no beef taking the mishap out on her and I perceive him as being an abusive jerk and she deserves better. So, if one or both happen to read this or others that know them, give him both barrels and the riot act. Ma'am, I hope you dump him and don't give up snowmobiling.

Grass showing here. Better take off the blower from my Johnny Popper and put lawn mower deck back on. Only snow in these parts is on Tug Hill. So are ALL the sledders!

Hibbert kicked butt at X Games

I cannot believe that no one has posted anything about Hibbert spankin' the boys on red, yellow and blue last weekend at the X games in CO. Funny how the field was dominated by 2 of the 4 brands and they couldn't hold a candle to him after the first turn. Yammi didn't do too bad I thought.

Aluminum Wheels on sled trailer

Not sure if this is under right topic, but here goes. I have the mentioned wheels on my trailer and they are about 3-4 years old. Outside of rinsing them off, I've done nothing to them. Well rinsing trailer off yesterday, I noticed they seem to be all cruddied up if you will. Pitted a better term? Anyways, what or is there anything I can do to bring them back to life/original condition?
Thanks in advance.

RE: 98 EFI zr600 idles at 4500

Water/ice in fuel line? EFI's don't like water. Try adding some dry gas. Did the sled run fine before you got gas? What were the temps in your area. Cat's EFI's are pretty much problem free. Clutch engagement is around 5 grand, but idle should be 3,000-4,000 if I recall right for that era.

RE: Is mixing synthetic oils OK for my 2000 sled?

Bug Eyed,
You should get at least 2 tanks of gas per 1 fill up of oil.
As for the mixing of oils. As long as they are both synthetic your okay. All mfr's have some sort of a valved exhaust except 4 strokes and each company has some additive "exclusive" to their own brand of oil that cleans the valves during use. BUT if you mix regular oil w/synth, your valves will gum up and sled will run like crap.

I agree with UG. Kinda like Carpel Tunnel Syndrome only on a sled. I need to adjust both throttle and brake levers on my F6. Not too my liking. Got the adjustment with handlebar ok, but positions for both levers are outta whack for me. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

RE: Heavy steering

VW,
Might be worth a shot, but take another look at your limiter straps. Sounds like the factory has them too tight (short), thus putting a lot of weight onto the skis. If you have a fair or any amount just "tangling", take out the suspension, and drill new holes into strap (closer to end from current hole). This may help you by transfering some weight back onto the susp from skis. All else fails, talk it over with your dealer to see what they suggest.
